How you find your gem
Four steps, from the first burn to knowing exactly what you pulled out.

Light it
Trim the wick and light it. Let the first burn run long enough for the wax to melt edge to edge.

Burn it down
As the wax burns away the gem starts to show. Keep burning until the whole stone is clear of the wax.

Lift it out
Blow the candle out and let the wax cool, then lift out the foil packet and unwrap your gem.

Scan the card
The jar holds a certificate for your stone. Scan the code on it to see what you found and what it is worth.
Let the wax cool before you reach in. The gem is sealed in foil, so it comes out clean.
I had to test it myself first and got a sweet star sapphire! So of course I had to get my mom and 2 sisters-in-law one for Christmas.

Is it safe to burn?
Burn it on a heat-safe surface away from anything flammable, keep the wick trimmed, and never leave a burning candle unattended.
