This 0.37 carat natural alexandrite has been certified by GIA and states that it is of Russian origin. Alexandrite is a rare and valuable gemstone discovered in the Ural Mountains of Russia in the 1830s. Named after Tsar Alexander II, it is famous for its unique color-changing properties, shifting from green in daylight to red under incandescent light. Russian alexandrite is highly prized because the original deposits in the Ural Mountains produced stones of exceptional quality, with vivid color changes and clarity. These mines have since been largely depleted, making Russian alexandrite even more rare and valuable compared to stones from other regions like Brazil or Sri Lanka.
